Like many others across the country, we were gripped by the exciting climax of this year’s Tour de France at the weekend as Geraint Thomas become the first ever Welsh man to win one of cycling’s highest honours.
But we were perhaps just as excited to spot a familiar sight in one of the celebration photos posted by Team Sky over the weekend, showing Geraint celebrating with a six pack of Tan Y Castell Welshcakes, sealed with none other than a Select Bag Sealers Seal!
We’ve supplied Tan Y Castell bakery in Narbeth, Pembrokeshire, with bag sealing machinery and seals for a number of years now, and we’re sure that their famous Welshcakes were just the treat Geraint deserved after three weeks and 3,300km of gruelling competition.
Proving that good things come to those who wait, Geraint’s win comes a whole decade after winning his first Olympic gold as part of the GB team pursuit quartet in Beijing 2008 and 11 years after his Tour de France debut in 2007, when he finished 140 out of 141 finishers.
Well done, Geraint!
“We are very pleased with the way our two SBS machines have worked so far. They haven’t missed a beat and going forward we will be looking to set up yearly service visits from SBS to ensure both machines continue to deliver the best possible performance.”
