The Select Bag Sealers team took our charity fundraising efforts up a gear earlier this month as we held a charity cycling challenge in aid of our charity of the year, Sue Ryder Wheatfield’s Hospice.
A total of 32 members of staff from Select Bag Sealers and ProSpool signed up to take part in the challenge, which saw them cycle 714.7 miles (1149km) over the space of a week without ever having to leave our Yeadon-based office, thanks to the loan of an exercise bike from Rowhire.
Richard Hobson, Select Bag Sealers sales director, was part of the team that took part. He commented: “There was a really good buzz around the company, it brought everyone together and along with healthy competition everyone was cycling their hearts out, this really helped raised the profile and benefits of keeping fit and wellbeing.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to Rowhire, for the use of one of their machines! This challenge would not have happened without their support.
The money raised via sponsorship, a raffle and a bucket collection during the event will be added to our grand total for the year, which we’re hoping will top £10,000. It costs Wheatfield’s Hospice £4m a year to keep their services running and they therefore rely on donations to help them to continue to provide the best standard of care.
Other charity events our staff members have taken part in so far in throughout 2018 include the 25th annual Nidderdale charity walk and the Great North Swim. To make sure the hospice gets every donation it deserves, Select Bag Sealers’ directors have pledged to match every pound raised throughout the year.
“Fine Lady Bakeries have been utilising SBS sealers for a number of years, which perform very well for our production requirements. We have recently purchased two new Flexi-Sealers and have found them to be a very flexible sealer with excellent performance and efficiency levels. In addition, taking into account the high standard of technical back up that we receive from SBS, we would say that we would definitely consider SBS for any new sealers that are required in the future.”
