As the year draws to a close, we are already looking forward to what 2019 looks to have in store at Select Bag Sealers, as we continue to aid in the expansion and development of our internal processes and help with our increased order book by investing in resources.
Before we bid a final farewell to 2018, we thought it was a good chance to take a look back at some of the resounding successes of the last 12 months and celebrate some of our fantastic achievements.
This year has seen us underline our commitment to quality, the environment and the working conditions of our staff with the achievement of three new ISO certifications; ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 1801.
We also continued our commitment to furthering our green credentials with introduction of our recyclable bag seal, which enables bakeries to create a bread bag that is 100% recyclable. The product was introduced to the market with the release of ‘It’s all about the seal: Fresher, clearer, easier, safer…and now greener’, our white paper examining the themes and contributory factors in the drive for sustainable packaging.
In May we were pleased to give Leeds North West MP Alex Sobel a tour of our Yeadon-based factory and to hear his thoughts on local employment and training issues facing the area both right now and in the future. Always happy to meet new faces within the industry, we also invited Muhammad Idrees Goheer from Access Engineering to Yeadon to discuss the distribution of our TS3 machines in Pakistan for our developing market.
In September we flew out to Munich to exhibit at the world’s leading trade show for bakery, confectionary and snacks; the iba show. The exhibition was the perfect opportunity for us to catch up with established customers as well as meet some interesting new faces, and if you joined us on our stand over the five days of the show, we look forward to doing business in 2019.
We’ve appointed a number of fantastic new faces to the SBS team, including production and procurement engineer Maria Hellyer, service engineer Andy Tate and business development manager James Carson. We’re anticipating the chance to continue to grow our staff numbers throughout 2019, as well as look to expand into other emerging markets across the world.
Most importantly, and thanks to all the achievements listed above, we have been able to welcome a number of new customers to the business, including David Woods Foods in Newport, who are now benefiting from the installation of our Flexi Plus bagsealers at their Newport bakery.
Finally, as our success grows, we are delighted to have the opportunity to be able to give back in a number of new ways. In 2018 this has included raising a fantastic amount of £11,313.90 for our Charity of the Year, Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice, as well as a donation to SEALIFE Scarborough to fund new transportation bags to help in the rescue of injured seals.
2018 has certainly been a successful year for the Select Bag Sealers team, and 2019 is already shaping up to be even more memorable. We’ll be taking a well-deserved break over Christmas, with our offices closed from 12pm on Friday 21st December and reopening on Wednesday 2nd January, so make sure you place your orders for bag seals and spares in time.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
“Thank you to everybody involved in the installation of the new Flexi-Sealer on our new bagging line. We had a new Flexi-Sealer installed in 2008 and since then the machine has just kept running. Our own engineers never go near the machine, there is no need to. The support from Select’s engineer on the installation day was excellent, his work and the training he gave to both operators and our own engineers was a credit to him and the management at Select Bag Sealers. I would recommend the SBS Flexi-Sealer to anyone looking for a bag sealing machine.”
